2013 · The GameBlade years
MineTheftAuto began on the GameBlade Network in 2013. The original release, MTA 1.0, took the idea of a GTA-style city and built it in Minecraft. GameBlade was its home for three years.
2016 · The move to Shotbow
When the GameBlade Network shut down in 2016, the team moved MineTheftAuto to Shotbow. This was the start of MTA 2.0, the version players knew on Shotbow through 2022. A player could pick up a job on their phone, save for a house or join a crew for a bank heist.
2023 · The return to GameBlade
The team had been preparing MTA 3.0 for release when Shotbow closed the gamemode. Version 3.0 never launched on Shotbow. MineTheftAuto left the network in 2023, and ownership of the project returned to GameBlade.
Rebuilding Heartrow
Back at GameBlade, the team is rebuilding MineTheftAuto from the ground up around Heartrow, the original city.
